A TODDLERS group in Bradford on Avon founded by three church-goers has celebrated its 10th anniversary.

The Footprints Toddler group was started by Esther Howard, Catrin Alsop and Naomi Oliver of the Bradford on Avon Baptist Church as a way to reach out into the local community.

On Monday (10 Sept), the group celebrated its 10th birthday with a special event to give thanks to God and the parents who use it.

As well as their normal toddler activities, the group brought in a bouncy castle, party food snacks and a birthday cake.

Esther, 38, from Trowbridge, said: “We’d like to thank all the families for their support over the years and thanks to God for helping us to keep going.”

The Toddler group caters for children aged 0-5 from Bradford on Avon and the surrounding area, including Trowbridge, and runs on Monday during term-time from 10am to 11.30am.

Based at the town’s United Church Hall in St Margaret’s Street, it offers free play activities for up to 20 youngsters, although numbers vary from week to week.

One of the helpers, Jill Hope, said: “Over the years, many families and childminders have appreciated having somewhere safe and friendly to bring their young children.

“They also appreciate the opportunity for a cuppa and to meet other parents. We often see families who have left, returning with their younger children.”

The activities included crafts, snacks, a Bible story, and singing sessions. Jill added: “We always end with ‘Hope Little Bunnies’, which is a favourite with the children.”
