Indie rock band Black Honey will be making sweet music when they drop in to Marlborough to meet and greet their fans.

Black Honey are a British four-piece formed in Brighton, in 2014. The band is composed of lead singer and guitarist Izzy B. Phillips, guitarist Chris Ostler, bassist Tommy Taylor, and drummer Tom Dewhurst.

The band released an eponymous debut EP in late 2014 followed by a series of singles and now are unleashing their self titled debut album on September 21.

The musicians have received airplay from BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, Huw Stephens and Phil Taggart. Izzy and Chris met at university and began writing together and then along came Tommy, originally playing drums and a string of bass players. Finally Tommy picked up the bass guitar and brought along his house mate, and Tom, to play the drums - Black Honey was born. Tom’s family have a house in Normandy and the band use it to record. Their producer Emre Ramazanoglu comes from a background originally rooted in hip hop, and he has worked with Noel Gallagher and Paloma Faith. Tom is also the graphic designer of the band. The band supported Royal Blood on their autumn tour and this year are touring the UK before heading off to Germany, Belgium and France. The Bad Black Honey Club has become their real-life fan community and they will be able to meet Izzy and the boys at Sound Knowledge, Hughenden Yard, Marlborough on Wednesday, September 26 from 6.30pm.

They’ll be playing a short set at Café Thirty8 (www.thirty-8.com) and signing copies of their self-titled debut in-store after the performance. For more details or order an album call 01672 511106 or visit https://www.facebook.com/SoundKnowledgeMarlborough/
