FOUR well-known soloists are to perform at a charity concert at Melksham United Church on Saturday, September 29 starting at 7.30 pm.

They are soprano Susan Coates, mezzo soprano Sophie Meehan, tenor Phillip Borge and bass Ashley Bremner.

They will perform a delightful programme of popular operatic arias, duets and quartets with accompaniment provided by the Stonar School Choir with Musical Director, Nick Goodall.

The second half of the concert will be dedicated to the comic operas of Gilbert and Sullivan and will be performed in memoriam of Mrs Sandy Muir, a Stonar School teacher for many years.

The concert has been organised by Opera Sulis, the Bath-based operatic ensemble.

Phillip Borge, a founder member of Opera Sulis, is flying back to the UK from his home in Gibraltar specially to perform at the concert.

A former student of Bath Spa University and founder member of Opera Sulis, Phillip continued his studies at The Royal College of Music and continues to sing on the professional stage in Spain.

Bass, Ashley Bremner, is no stranger to the operas of Gilbert and Sullivan, having performed many roles professionally in London. Graham Billing will provide a witty narrative for the evening and proceeds will go to Dorothy House Hospice.

Tickets are £10 on the door or in advance via contact@operasulis.com, TicketSource and Stonar School Music Department.
