TWO people suffered minor injuries when a fire engine overturned after being hit by a lorry in Westbury on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Quartermaster Road on the West Wilts Trading Estate shortly after 3pm

A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman later said that the fire engine was a ‘non-operational pre-delivery appliance belonging to London Fire Brigade’.

South Western Ambulance Service said two people had been treated for minor injuries.

A fire service spokesperson said: “We sent three crews, from Trowbridge, Warminster and Bradford on Avon, and also the heavy rescue unit from Trowbridge.

“Fortunately neither driver was trapped and all firefighters had to do was make the scene safe.

"The crew left the scene by 4.15pm."
