THE driver of a BMW that crashed on Great Western Way suffered serious injuries, police have said.

The 49-year-old local man was taken to hospital following the incident at Mannington roundabout that kept the busy route closed for much of the day. His family have been informed.

Road closures were put in place from Junction 16 of the M4 along Great Western Way to Mannington while the accident, which happened just after 10am, was dealt with.

In a statement appealing for witnesses, Wiltshire Police said: "We would like to thank drivers for their patience as we carried out vital examination at the scene."
