More than 1,178 pupils attended a careers fair at St Laurence School in Bradford on Avon to help them learn more about the world of work.

It was held on Tuesday (Sept 18) and featured representatives from more than 15 local companies and organisations, including local colleges.

All pupils from Year 8 to 13 had the opportunity to speak directly to business people about the careers offered in their industry.

Sarah Christie, the School’s Careers Co-ordinator, said: “The focus is primarily on industry that is thriving in their local area.

“This information is linked to the subjects that students are taking and guidance is given about GCSE options and post-16 choices.

“There was a real buzz to the event. Students loved being able to ask their own questions.

“Their reaction to events like this demonstrates how early they start to think about their career paths.

“St Laurence would like to thank all the visiting businesses for their time and enthusiasm for the event.”

The Careers Fair is part of a comprehensive Careers programme that St Laurence offers in order to prepare pupils for further study and the world of work.

Among other events, pupils take part in a week’s Work Experience in Year 10 and Y13.

If you are a local company that would like to take part in next year’s event or could offer a work experience opportunity please contact the school.
