GENEROUS Wiltshire Times readers have donated more than £1,500 to help improve the life of a little girl with a rare genetic disease.

Over the past three weeks kind-hearted individuals and businesses have been sending cash and cheques to our Trowbridge office in aid of Josselin's Chair Appeal.

The family of Kelly Brooks, a young girl with cerebral palsy, who got a wheelchair thanks to funds donated by Wiltshire Times readers last year, are just one of many families to jump to Josselin's aid.

In the new year the money will be presented to 20-month-old Josselin's parents Karen and Lee Tilley, who live with their daughter in Bitham Mill, Westbury.

Little Josselin has CHARGE syndrome and is profoundly deaf and blind.

She has to be fed through a tube and is put on a ventilator when she goes to bed to assist her breathing.

A fundraising evening at the Laverton Hall in Westbury last month raised around £5,000, which will pay for a walker and wheelchair for Josselin and a machine to position her on her side at night so she doesn't choke.

Despite enough money already being raised to pay for the equipment, we are continuing our appeal and anybody wanting to donate money can send a cheque (made payable to Josselin's Chair Appeal) or cash to the Wiltshire Times' offices at 15 Duke Street, Trowbridge, BA14 8EF.
