THE Air Ambulance landed on the A31 near Ringwood this afternoon after woman had to be cut from the wreckage of her car following a three-vehicle smash.

The woman, thought to be in her 20s, was cut from her Mini Cooper by fire crews after it was in collision with an HGV and a Ford Fiesta on the westbound carriageway shortly before 1pm. Her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The accident caused huge tailbacks, estimated to be up to five miles long. Both carriageways had to be closed to allow the helicopter to land and one lane of the westbound remained closed for several hours to allow vehicles to be recovered and the road cleared.
