DOORWAY, the north Wiltshire charity for the homeless, is holding an recruitment morning for volunteers.

The event takes place on Tuesday March 4 from 9am-1pm at The Salvation Army Hall, Chippenham.

There will be talks about what the charity does and the chance to ask questions.

The energy and skills that volunteers bring to the project are crucial to its success, and there is currently a shortage of:

  • Befrienders who will sit and share a meal with guests, providing an opportunity for them to talk or join in activities.
  • Catering Assistants who are prepared to do a variety of tasks such as preparing and serving food, washing up, cleaning kitchen equipment and ensuring the smooth running of the kitchen.
  • Cooks who help plan, prepare and cook meals (breakfasts on Mondays and two-course lunches on Thursdays) for an average of 40 to 50 people.
  • General Helpers who are prepared to do a variety of tasks.

Volunteers receive full training and support and we reimburse all expenses, such as travel to the centre and car parking. Free meals are also provided.

For more information about Doorway or to book a place at our recruitment session, and to receive a volunteer information pack, call 01249 445385 or email info@doorwayproject.org.uk
