Jason Donovan signs up for Bowood

TELEVISION and pop star Jason Donovan will headline this year's Crimestoppers Family Funday at Bowood House.

The Australian, who shot to fame in Neighbours and has also sold over three million albums, will be joined by other acts including boy band Blazin' Squad on August 31.

After playing Scott Robinson in Neighbours throughout the 1980s Jason Donovan recently returned to our screens in the ITV programmes Echo Beach and Moving Wallpaper.

Organisers of the Crimestoppers event have said that despite the star booking they are still searching for other big names to add to the line up at the celebrity packed event.

Vice chair of Wiltshire Crimestoppers, Sue Fobbester, said organisers were thrilled to have Jason Donovan confirmed.

She said: "We wont know until the day what he will be performing, but it will be a selection of songs.

"They will ask us if we have any preferences and it will be fantastic if he sings some of his old hits.

"We are delighted to announce him this year as we have tried in previous years.

"There are many others perfoming too and by no means have we finished with the line up of stars."

Other acts on the day will include Same Difference, the pop duo from the fourth series of The X Factor, who will be performing hits from the film High School Musical.

Blazin' Squad, who had hits including their UK number one Crossroads will also be at the event.

It is thought that they are no longer a ten-piece boy band, but now have six members and it is thought this will include member Kenzie, who also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in January 2005.

Other musical acts present on the day will be an Abba Tribute band, back by popular demand and a Scissor Sisters tribute act called Scissor Sisterz.

Singer Kavanagh, who appeared in the musical Grease and a star from Genie in the House, a Nickelodeon TV show, will also be there on the day, as well as a Disco tribute act to open the show.

Crowds of more than 15,000 are usually attracted to the event, which takes place in the grounds of Bowood House.

However, this year organisers are hoping to pull in even more and reach the 20,000 mark.

There are still places available for trade stands and the craft fair as well as anyone who wants to help sponsor the day.

People will also be able to sponsor an act and anyone interested can ring Sue Fobbester on (01373) 453450.

Anyone wanting tickets can call the hotline on 0845 2305177.
