Two youths arresting on suspicion of graffiti charges

Officers from the Cricklade Neighbourhood Policing Team, who were patrolling following reports of anti-social behaviour, have arrested two youths on suspicion of causing criminal damage by spraying graffiti at Cricklade Leisure Centre yesterday evening.

Recent reports of anti-social behaviour in the leisure centre area, have resulted in increased foot patrols of officers, which led to the apprehension of the two suspected offenders.

Inspector Mark Levitt, the area Commander, said: "Early indications are that these are significant arrests in relation to on-going graffiti problems in the Cricklade and Swindon areas. We are demonstrating to our communities that we share their concerns over criminal damage to their property and environment and are prepared to use all resources necessary to stop such offences happening."

The two male youths arrested, both aged 17 years-old, are from the West Swindon area and are currently in custody at Gablecross Police Station. A joint investigation is being carried out in conjunction with the West Swindon Neighbourhood Policing Team who has made graffiti issues a Neighbourhood Policing Priority.

Two houses in the West Swindon area have been searched in relation to evidence of other similar offences.
