A Wiltshire house has been trashed as a teenage birthday party got out of hand and hordes of gatecrashers descended.

Police said they were called to an address in Bulford after "reports of disorder".

The teenage son of the homeowner was hosting a party on March 29, but police discovered that "substantially more people than had been invited" had turned up.

One teenager, thought to be a female, was so drunk she had to be taken to hospital and officers said the house had been "trashed".

The teenager's mother, reported to be 35-year-old Tracey Mundell, told the Daily Mail newspaper that the damage was so distressing that she is considering selling the house.

Mrs Mundell, who is now thought to be with friends in Italy, told the newspaper that the gatecrashers came from local grammar schools in Salisbury and may have heard about the party in social networking internet sites.

Her son had permission to invite 30 friends to his 16th birthday party but reportedly 200 turned up.

She told the newspaper: "My whole life has been destroyed. I am a single parent and everything I have worked for has been broken.

"I'd locked everything of any value, including my rare and precious snake-necked turtle, safely away upstairs in my bedroom but they had picked the lock off the door.

"When I came back, the tank was foaming. There was make-up all over my carpet and the sheets were ripped. These were such malicious acts."
