Police closed a rural Wiltshire road and an air ambulance reportedly attended the scene after a crash.

The AA has reported that the B4040 has been shut by officers in both directions near Malmesbury, between the junctions for Hankerton and Minety, on the evening of Saturday, April 14.

An air ambulance is believed to have responded to the incident, which was first reported at around 5.20pm.

Traffic maps indicate that the road remains shut at the time of writing, although police are yet to confirm if this is the case.

There are delays in the area in both directions.

The AA’s traffic map said: “Road closed and slow traffic due to crash on B4040 The Street both ways from Upper Minety turn off to Hankerton turn off.

“Air ambulance is on scene attending.

“Affecting traffic between Cricklade and Malmesbury.”
