EFFORTS to take an aid van to Ukraine are being ramped up.

Father and son duo Philip Spring, 39, and Kyle Spring, 16, from Salisbury, need to raise £2,500 so they can provide essential humanitarian aid to children in the war-torn nation.

The pair, along with co-driver Dave Hatch, are volunteering with 'Vans Without Borders' - a not-for-profit organisation which provides volunteers with a van to take into Ukraine and purchase humanitarian aid.

A special pub quiz is being held at the Halfway House on Wilton Road.

It will take place on Thursday April 18 at 7.30pm.

£8 per entry, four players maximum per team. All proceeds will go to the supply of aid to vulnerable Ukrainian children.

Kyle, 16, is the driving force behind the project.

The trio are volunteering in partnership with Vans without Borders to deliver food, medicine clothing and toys to disabled children in Ukraine.

They will spend two weeks in Ukraine (leaving on April 22), distributing aid where it is most needed.
