Dilton Marsh will again have a postal service after the Post Office allowed the postmistress at a neighbouring branch to take it over.
The former Dilton Marsh Post Office, located in the High Street, managed to avoid closure in December 2007 when the Post Office announced that 2,500 branches were to be closed nationwide.
However the two postmasters then resigned in March due to ill health, leaving the village with no postal service.
Since then, sub-postmistress at The Ham Post Office, Lesley Jordan, has tried to take over the service and run it from the Keystore in Dilton, which she also manages.
She had an interview about the role on August 5 and The Post Office accepted Mrs Jordan's application.
She is delighted and expects the new Keystore post office in High Street, to be open in the first week of October.
