FAMILIES clapped and cheered as a motorcycle stunt display performed by children wowed crowds at this year's Corsley Show.
The Tigers Children's Motorcycle Display Team was just one of the many attractions at the annual show held yesterday in the village near Warminster.
The event attracted hundreds of people from across Wiltshire and the surrounding counties to enjoy the various horse shows, horticultural contests, alpacas, and dog competitions, among other spectacles.
Liam Carroll, 11, from Frome, had only been at the annual show for a few minutes before he was taking part in the children's races and coming second in one. He said: "It's good. I did the sack race; it was tiring. I've only been here 10 minutes but I got straight in. I'm going to do the obstacle course next."
Blake Lloyd and his tiny six-month-old Dachshund puppy Ruby, from Frome, were popular with the crowds as they performed in the 'Any Variety Puppy' category in the dog competitions and came fifth overall. Blake, 15, said: "My mum wanted her (Ruby) to enter the competition. She's impressed me. I thought she would be dragging me along but she was very good.
"We were planning to come here because some of my family are in Guernsey and my mum said she wanted to treat me to the Corsley Show."
As well as the numerous competitions, such as the longest carrot and strangest-shaped vegetable contests in the horticultural tent, there was a circus skills workshop, mounted horse games, a skittles alley, beer tent and numerous stalls.
Mary Purchase was helping to run the Corsley Women's Institute stall and raffle. She said: "I have been coming here for 30 years, ever since I lived in Corsley, and it is as busy as it always is.
"The committee works their socks off for it and they have done very well."
