Devizes Cricket Club held their annual six-a-side fancy dress cricket tournament on Sunday as they beat the weather.
The Old Bar Stewards comfortably defeated the Nipuna Tribute CC in the final to wrap up the title after coming through the group stages unbeaten and winning their semi final.
But the biggest winner was the club after it raked in around £1,500 from teams and spectators, which will go to the upkeep of the club.
"It is probably our biggest earner. It takes quite a lot of money to run a cricket club," said co-organiser Paul Stobbart, who was part of the Devizes ex-legends team.
But the day was in jeopardy thanks to the weather and it only went ahead because the club didn't want to let people down.
Stobbart said: "The only reason we played is because the forecast was good. When I arrived on Sunday morning at 9am the place was under water and we had to do a lot of mopping up.'' Stobbart hopes they can increase the amount of teams involved in the future. "We can do it because we have got three pitches but it is trying to organise it," he said.
