Police hunt handbag thief

Comments (0)POLICE have released CCTV images of a man they want to question in connection with the theft of a handbag.
Between 10.30am and 11am on September 9 a man was seen to be acting suspiciously in the loading bay at the rear of the Old George Mall.
He was challenged by a security guard who then discovered the man was rifling through a ladies handbag. The security officer quickly recovered the bag but the offender ran off towards New Street.
The owner of the bag was found and it appears that the offender had entered the staff kitchen of a store in the Old George Mall via the loading bay and stolen the handbag.
PC Damian Waldron said: "I would like to thank the Old George Mall Security Officer for his quick response to this incident and to appeal for information on the identity of the man pictured in the CCTV image in connection with the offence."
