A woman wanted for questioning today over missing money which should have funded a dance troupe's dream trip to America has been arrested in Dorset.

Amanda Williams, 51, known as Mandy, was last seen leaving her home in Stoneybeck Close, Swindon, at 9.30am on Wednesday in her Renault Laguna.

Police said she was arrested at an address in Weymouth.

She will be brought back to Gablecross Police Station, Swindon, later today, where she will be interviewed by detective officers.

The visit to a dance competition in the United States for 14 teenage girls was reportedly ruined when £30,000 vanished.

Youngsters were excited about representing the UK in the international Dance Excellence competition, but found that flights and hotels had not been booked.

Mrs Williams' daughter, Bobbi Newman, who runs Bobbi's Academy of Dance in Swindon, had worked hard to get the money together before discovering her mother was missing.

It was Mrs Williams who organised the ten-day visit.

Wiltshire Police said last night: "We are still trying to establish the full circumstances surrounding her disappearance which remain unclear at this time.

"We can confirm that we are investigating a report that an amount of money is missing from a local dance troupe with which Mandy was involved and we wish to speak with her in connection with that matter also."
