DETECTIVES investigating the murder of a man in a Lancaster pub have released CCTV stills of a group of people they need to trace.

Police were called to a disturbance at the Sir Richard Owen Wetherspoon pub on Spring Garden Street at about 4.15pm on Thursday, April 23, where a large group of men had been fighting.

Dave Bolton, 45, a self-employed carpenter from Preston, was discovered seriously injured at the scene and was taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

He died on Friday, April 24.

A post mortem examination established cause of death as head injury.

Detectives have analysed CCTV footage and have spoken to a number of witnesses at the scene.

Detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify seven people captured on the pub’s CCTV.

Detective Sergeant Simon Dent, from Lancaster CID, said: “We would urge the people shown in these CCTV images to come forward and make themselves known to police or for anyone who recognises them to contact officers. These people could be potential witnesses and hold crucial information that could help the inquiry."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lancaster CID on 01524 63333 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
