Protected newts saved after water supply turned back on

The water supply to a pond in Lynwood Drive on the Broadmead estate in Trowbridge has now been restored after a worker from Wessex Water mistakenly turned off a standpipe that was topping up the pond.

Residents had raised concerns as great crested newts, a protected species, live in the pond, but the company said the temporary interruption in water supply would not have affected the newts.
