Bus company boss praises driver after crash

School pupils from St Laurence School in Bradford on Avon had a lucky escape after the coach they were travelling in was involved in a collision with a car.

A Beeline coach was carrying three students from the school on the country road near Kingsdown Golf Club, at about 5pm on Monday evening.

The students had been travelling home in the coach following extra curricular activities.

Director of Beeline, Mark Hayball, said: “It’s seems that the car which was driving in the opposite direction had swerved into the coach for some unknown reason, possibly a puncture, we are not sure.

“However I am really proud of our driver, Angela Parker, who responded quickly when the incident happened.

“She was obviously quite shocked but she got the three students off the coach as quickly as possible to make sure they were safe.

”We run a coach service for the pupils at the school who go to extra curricular activities.”

An elderly woman driving the silver Peugeot 206 was checked over by paramedics and taken to hospital as a precaution.

Mr Hayball said both the bus driver and the students were uninjured and the coach, which was dented at the front, has been sent away for repairs.

St Laurence School deputy headteacher, Richard Clutterbuck said: “We were of course very relieved to hear that our students were not hurt.

“The school has also been kept fully informed by the bus company over what was a very unusual incident.”

To avoid any further accidents caused it is about time the large amount of the staff there that are so obese should be told they need to lose weight, because they are at risk from suffering a heart attack at the wheel putting kids lives at risk.I understand this is why 2 local schools no longer use this service. One driver last year also drove in such a dangerous way and nearly caused an accident when it was full of kids.

What the hell are you on about, this accident was caused by the old woman in the car swerving into the path of the bus. Are you some sort of numpty to try to turn it into a rant at overweight bus drivers. How about worrying about the number of old people who can hardly get in or out of their cars, never mind drive them safely who are a danger to other road users.

Nice one Juan King.Meester David obviously needs to have his eyes checked out.You cant get any more obvious than this picture showing the car on the wrong side of the road.

Tethered and now you change your tack and have a go at us fat people ?? We are human too, we just want to be loved, we can drive, we are not all a heart attack waiting to happen

I was once 16 stone,i am 5 ft 2 i am not against large people.I know it was an old lady not the bus driver that caused this. However this company are putting these kids lives at risk by not caring about the health problems that could seriously affect these drivers when they have a full bus.Yes a lot of these older peopls have caused accidents, another one could be waiting to happen if these drivers dont do some serious healthy eating.
