Sherston Parish Council has urged gardeners in the village to be more considerate when burning green waste after villagers complained about the smoke from neighbours’ bonfires.
Sherston Primary School in particular has suffered and there have been occasions when the classrooms and the school kitchen have been affected.
Parish council vice chair Martin Rea said it had the potential to cause a health risk.
He said: “This is not only troublesome for people with respiratory problems it can be positively dangerous.
“Gardeners are asked to be considerate and remember that there are other ways of disposing of garden waste.
“Compost what you can and take the rest to the tip.”
