A fanfare from the Trowbridge Army Cadets Corps of Drums signalled the opening of the sixth annual Studley Green fun day on Saturday.
Trowbridge mayor Cllr Jeff Osborn performed the official opening ceremony for the fun day held at the community centre, which had the usual package of fun activities for the whole family.
There was a climbing wall that was partially sponsored by Selwood Housing, mini car rides, quad bikes, a giant inflatable slide and a maze obstacle course as well as craft activities and refreshments inside the community centre.
Chair of the events team at Studley Green Community Centre, Teresa Hornblow, said: “It went really well and the rain held off until just after we finished.
“It was quite busy, especially the queue for the barbecue.
“The fanfare from the Corps of Drums really set the atmosphere for the day.”
There was also demonstrations of tai kwon do, kickboxing, majorettes and first aid and members of UCW Wrestling, who train at the Longfield Community Centre, put on a display at the community centre in the evening too.
The event was held to raise funds to pay for the annual Christmas Party for four-11-year-old children on the estate, which this year is a travelling pantomime show.
A car boot sale is also being held this weekend on Sunday, July 19 from 1.30-4.30pm in the field next to the community centre.
