Funeral cars past and present to go on show at crematorium

An exhibition of funeral cars from past and present will be on show at West Wiltshire Crematorium in Semington this weekend.

Horse drawn hearses, a Rolls Royce fleet, an American Cadillac hearse, and bright white and pink limousines will be among the vehicles on display from 12pm until 4pm on Sunday.

Biking enthusiasts will also get to view a motorcyle hearse, while lorry fans can view the White Funeral Lorry.

Everything is free of charge, but visitors will get the chance to make a donation to the Dorothy House Hospice in Winsley.

As well as the cars, local funeral directors will also be displaying artefacts and photos.

The bereaved will have an opportunity to remember someone special by filling in a label baring that person’s name, which will be planted with a tree in the grounds, along with a commemorative plaque.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy strawberries and cream courtesy of the Lamb on the Strand pub, as well as being able to meet barn owl Duchess. who will be touring the grounds with her keeper.
