Nearly nine months after her suspected murder, the inquest into the death of Wootton Bassett student Hannah Fisher is set to take place tomorrow.

Miss Fisher, 21, of Marlowe Way, was found with multiple injuries at a flat in Oadby, Leicester, on January 19.

The body of her ex-boyfriend Simon Marsh had been found at the flats where he lived a day earlier. Miss Fisher was studying forensic science at De Montfort University.

Last month her parents Debbie and Alan Fisher were presented with a posthumous degree from the university, as Miss Fisher had filed enough work to pass the course.

University friend Leigh Nunn, who set up a Facebook group in memory of her pal shortly after her death, said Miss Fisher had worked hard during her time at university.

In an online tribute, she said: “Congratulations on the posthumous award Hannah, you deserved it.

“You would have made a brilliant forensic scientist.

“I wish I’d spent more time telling you how much I cared for you as a friend and that I’d never known a more sensitive and caring person than yourself.”

A silver star has been unveiled on the Wyvern Theatre’s wall in tribute to Miss Fisher, who was a keen theatre-goer.

Dad Alan said: “Because of our connections with the theatre, where I’m a volunteer usher, and the fact we are all involved in local theatre groups, we thought that to have Hannah’s name on their wall of stars would be a fitting memorial.

“This is somewhere we can use to remember her whenever we visit the theatre.

“We approached the Wyvern about purchasing a star for Hannah and they very kindly said they would like to donate the star in her name for free.

“This was an extremely kind gesture and they also arranged a reception for the family.”

Wyvern Theatre operational manager Sian Walters said: “When we heard about what happened to Hannah from her father Alan, we thought putting the star up was the least we could do.”

Tomorrow’s inquest will be held in Leicester.
