Taking care with Melksham flowers

Flowers filled Melksham House on Tuesday as the Melksham and District Flower Arrangement Society held its annual competition.

The competition ranged from petite arrangements to large pedestal arrangements, styled to the theme of Breast Cancer Care, the society’s charity for the year, and a photography section.

Mary Burgess, from Pickwick in Corsham, won the imposed class, photographic class and handtied bunch class, as well as picking up second prize in the modern class.

Judge Carol Moore congratulated all entrants, while president Celia Young presented the winners with trophies and certificates.

The society's next meeting is at Melksham House on Tuesday, November 17 at 1.30pm, followed by a visit from demonstrator Jo Jacobs.
