STRIKER Alan Griffin says it was an easy decision to come back to Chippenham and is convinced he had joined a club on the up.

The former Swindon Supermarine ace signed for the club two weeks ago but has so far been unable to play because of a suspension picked up when he was sent off at Hardenhuish Park.

He will serve the final game of his ban this weekend and has been impressed by what he has seen from the sidelines.

“Its well known that I had a falling out at Supermarine over certain things and I know Mingsy well,” he said.

“I had a chat with him and he said come back and I like it here and the boys here are decent so it was an easy decision.

“They play a lot of football and they look to have a lot of decent players here. It will be good competition and the squad is obviously building.

“Aaron Cornwall played well on Tuesday, I’ll come in and maybe a couple more might come in now, you don’t know.

“We’ve got a lot of games so you need a good squad and I think Mingsy is building one here. I think the future is bright this season.”

The muscular frontman will compete for a starting place with Ben Highmore, Lewis Powell and Shaun Benison, but believes he offers a unique alternative.

“I’ll be back soon and if you get a chance, you take it,” he said. “Maybe I’ll give something a bit different. A bit of height, a new option.”
