Pupils launch cook book to raise cash for school

Scrumptious recipes for cakes made by pupils of a Bradford on Avon school have been compiled in a fundraising cook book now on sale.

Pupils and parents at Christ Church Primary School have launched the cook book featuring their own recipes, to raise money for new classroom equipment.

The Cake Day Cook Book features 45 cake recipes, and is illustrated with photographs of cakes and pictures drawn by the pupils.

The book has been organised by the Friends of Christ Church School (FOCCS), who supplied the funding to print 400 copies of the book.

FOCCS vice chairman Sarah Howe said: “A lot of the recipes are cakes which the pupils have made for our cake days, and we are hoping this will be the start of an on-going thing.

“It should help encourage new parents to get involved.”

The £5.95 book is on sale at the school, and at several Bradford businesses including the Bridge Tea Rooms, which has supplied a recipe for a chocolate cake.

Other retailers include Tillions and Ex Libris in the Shambles, and the Tourist Information Centre.

Headmaster Neil Baker said: “This is a great way to show the kids how they can contribute and become part of the whole school fundraising process.

“All credit to Sarah Howe, who has worked incredibly hard, and the rest of FOCCS. They have raised a lot of money for the school over the years.”
