Lacock residents are guaranteed a ‘white Christmas’ when the two-part Cranford special is screened over the next two Sundays.
Filming, complete with fake snow, took place in the Wiltshire village in June and the first episode appears on BBC1 this Sunday at 9pm.
And local residents, many of whom played parts as extras, will join the many thousands glued to their screens over the next two weekends.
Villager Anthony Edwards, who plays the Cranford blacksmith, said: “I am really looking forward to seeing it on screen – it’s going to be a seasonal treat.”
National Trust property administrator Ann Cox is also expecting the screening to have a lucrative spin-off for the village, and she added: ”Lacock will be once again firmly of the tourist track after these Christmas specials.”
