Young musicians from two Wiltshire youth orchestras will help banish the winter blues in a concert on January 3 at the Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford on Avon.
The Wiltshire and Swindon Youth Orchestra and the Wiltshire Youth Jazz Orchestra will be performing a variety of American music with bass baritone Nick Garrett, including Copland, and Gershwin’s Porgy & Bess, a symphonic picture.
They will be performing songs in tribute to ‘The Rat Pack’, including Days of Wine and Roses, Try a Little Tenderness, New York, New York and Angel Eyes.
Conductor Timothy Redmond said: “Nick and I have performed together at the English National Opera, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and at concert venues throughout the country.
“He is one of those rare singers who manages to slip effortlessly between musical styles and I'm thrilled that he's coming to work with Wiltshire's fabulous young musicians.”
