A nursery in a Melksham village has been awarded an outstanding rating across the board by Ofsted inspectors.
Daisychain Day Nursery in Top Lane, Whitley, was given a coveted ‘outstanding’ rating in all 14 categories of each of the four main areas, including overall effectiveness of early years provision and effectiveness of leadership and management.
Rachel Spanswick, owner of the nursery, said: “I have been a nursery nurse for 23 years now. This has been my life’s ambition and to have achieved this in just three and a half years in my nursery in Whitley is just fantastic.
“I have such a strong, committed, caring and highly qualified team behind me who also have strived to provide the best.
“To achieve outstanding from Ofsted is rather like receiving the Michelin star in the restaurant business.’ The nursery, which is in the village’s former working mens’ club, has a team of 21 staff and is undergoing more changes, with a new kitchen and staff room already being fitted and plans to refurbish the baby unit by the end of the year.
Over the past 18 months, the soft play room has also been re-decorated and an art room and nappy changing area have been added.
