Wootton Bassett Police have announced that over the last year efforts to reduce crime in the town have meant 242 fewer crimes have been recorded.
In a report to the revenue and resources committee of Wootton Bassett Town Council last month Sergeant Jo Spencer spoke to councillors about the drop of overall reported crime and how pleased the local police were with the help of the local community on preventing and reporting crime.
Some impressive reductions include a 52.6 per cent reduction in thefts from vehicles. It is the calculated reduction in types of crime which leads the police to the figure of 242 fewer crimes.
In his written report, Inspector Steve Cox said: “To have a reduction of every type of crime is unusual and I am proud of this.”
