Furniture business opens the doors in Trowbridge

3:00pm Friday 12th March 2010

A new contemporary furniture store called Cloudberry opened for business in Trowbridge on Saturday.

The store, in Church Street, is named after a Swedish delicacy used in liquors and jams and is the brainchild of Staverton woman Lorna Boman.

Mrs Boman moved back to Wiltshire after spending 20 years in northern Sweden, near the Arctic Circle, where she ran a furnishings company and coffee shop from her home.

She returned to the UK seven years ago after her husband died. Her 25-year-old daughter Alexandra still lives and works there as a lawyer.

Mrs Boman started her working life as a nurse at the former Roundway Hospital in Devizes, before moving to Sweden, when she decided it was time for a career change. She has worked in an old people’s home since moving back to the UK and took a year out to set up her business.

“I was going up and down the street for a while looking at the shop,” she said. “I love the retro-modern style. I have gone for products I love myself and things I would like to have in my own home.”
