Devizes town council’s annual beating of the bounds will be held this year in memory of the late mayor, Coun John Leighton.

The sponsored walk, taking place on Sunday April 18, follows the historic parish boundaries of the town, a distance of about seven miles.

The walk, which sets off from the Sports Club in London Road at 10.30am, will raise money for Coun Leighton’s mayor’s fund.

The fund is in aid of Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Dorothy House Hospice and Devizes Kats and Kits in Care.

Maps of the route will be provided and every participant will receive a certificate.

Coun Ray Taylor, who organises the walk, said: “This should be an enjoyable and interesting walk whatever the weather.”
