Bank teller Katie Watt is raising cash for charity through pedal power by cycling from London to Bruges in June.
Miss Watt, 29, from Forty Acres Road, Devizes, hopes to raise upwards of £1,500 for the British Heart Foundation by taking part in the 250-kilometre run through southern England, northern France and Belgium.
She said: “We will be doing upwards of 70km a day so I am putting in a lot of training.”
Miss Watt is the only person from Wiltshire in the 20-strong group taking part in the fundraising run.
She took part with her colleague at Lloyds TSB in Devizes, Sherilee Rose, in the charity’s London to Brighton run last year, raising over £500 for heart research.
She said: “It was absolutely fine until the last few miles which were all up this very steep hill. I managed to cycle the whole way, despite having to swerve round people pushing their bikes up.”
She tries to cycle at least 30 miles each weekend, and her route takes her over the long, lung-busting Oare hill.
Miss Watt has to raise at least £1,100 in sponsorship to take part, but hopes to better that. She has been selling quiz sheets and asking people to guess the number of sweets in a jar.
Miss Watts, who owns two springer spaniels and a boxer, has also set up a fun dog show on The Green in Devizes on Easter Monday. As well as the usual classes, there will be ones for the dog with the best trick, the waggiest tail and the best child handler.
