Sixth formers at Wootton Bassett School have raised £1,632 for Swindon Kidney Patients Association.
The pupils, who heard about the the charity from a student whose grandfather is a patient, raised the money by organising a cabaret.
At the presentation, Wendy Armitage, Kidney Patients’ branch secretary, praised the young people’s support for the renal unit.
She said that, without the unit, patients would have to go to Oxford three times a week for treatment. The money was raised as part of the Sixth Form Charity Challenge.
It will go towards buying equipment that is not provided by the NHS at the renal unit of Great Western Hospital in Swindon.
