Stores in Corsham town centre will be invaded by extraterrestrial mutants over the Easter period as part of a Spot the Dalek competition.

Corsham Chamber of Commerce, which organises the annual Spot the Oddity competition, has added an out of this world twist to this year’s competition by placing mini Daleks instead of random objects in stores around Corsham.

Chamber president Ian Storey said: “Each year we run a Spot the Oddity window competition where selected retailers display an intentionally odd object.

“This year we have chosen one common family fun theme of Daleks.

“The reason is a link up with a major sci-fi event, which is being held on April 17, in the Corsham Community Centre.”

The chamber has hidden seven mini Daleks within stores around the town and children are invited to take part to win prizes.

Entry is free and forms can be obtained from the schools, Corsham Library, Automattic Comics and Toys, Sweets and Treats, and the Tourist Information Centre.

The competition runs from March 27 to April 10 and is open to children in two age ranges, up to seven and eight to 12 year olds.

Completed entry forms should be delivered to Automattic Comics and Toys, or the Tourist Information Centre.

Prizes have been donated by Somerfield, Automattic Comics and Longleat Safari Park.

Mr Storey said: “We are grateful to our sponsors and hope that people will have a fun time trying to find all the Daleks without getting exterminated.”
