Stores in Corsham town centre will be invaded by Daleks over Easter as part of a Spot the Dalek competition.

Corsham Chamber of Commerce, which organises the annual Spot the Oddity competition, has added an extraterrestrial twist to this year’s competition by placing mini Daleks instead of random objects in stores.

Chamber president Ian Storey said: “Each year we run a Spot the Oddity window competition where selected retailers display an intentionally odd object. This year we have chosen Daleks.

“The reason is a link-up with a major sci-fi event, which is being held on Saturday April 17, in the Community Centre.”

The chamber has hidden seven mini Daleks in stores and children are invited to spot them to win prizes.

Entry is free and entry forms can be obtained from schools, the library, Automattic Comics and Toys, Sweets and Treats and the Tourist Information Centre.

The competition runs from March 27 to April 10 and is open to children in two age ranges, up to seven and eight to 12 years old.

Completed entry forms should be delivered to Automattic Comics and Toys or the Tourist Information Centre.

Prizes have been donated by Somerfield, Automattic Comics and Toys and Longleat.

Mr Storey said: “We are grateful to our sponsors and hope that people will have a fun time trying to find all the Daleks without getting exterminated.”
