Twelve-year-old Adam Lomas is making a name for himself as a musician after winning his third award at local music competitions in a year.

Adam, from Avebury Trusloe, took first place in the brass section of Swindon Music Festival last week.

Last June he won his section in Wootton Bassett Music and Arts Festival and did the same at Devizes Junior Eisteddfod in November.

Adam, a pupil at St John’s in Marlborough, plays the euphonium, not the smallest or easiest of instruments to master.

His mother, Michele, said: “When he was three he saw someone play the tuba and decided that was his instrument.

“We managed to explain to him that the tuba was a bit big for him and we compromised with the euphonium.”
