Fire crews came to the rescue of a sinking canal boat yesterday evening after it sprang a leak as it travelled along the Kennet and Avon Canal at All Cannings, near Devizes.
Firefighters from Devizes, Pewsey Warminster and Westbury were called out at 8.30pm following reports of a 15ft pleasure boat taking on water.
They worked alongside a specialist water rescue team from Trowbridge using portable pumps to reduce the water level to allow a temporary repair to be made.
