A 38-year-old man has been charged with driving while disqualified after a crash in Trowbridge on Friday.

The man, who is of Turkish origin, crashed a blue Vauxhall Vectra at around 8pm at the junction of Lambrok Road and Wingfield Road.

The single-vehicle crash demolished a 30mph speed limit sign and police said the car had overturned, ending up on its roof.

The man was arrested for driving while disqualified and was later charged.

He has been bailed and will appear before Chippenham magistrates at a court date to be confirmed.

Duty Sergeant Vicky Smart, of Trowbridge police, said: “An ambulance also attended the scene but there were no serious injuries.

“There was a lot of mud on the road and this was cleared by the council at a later stage.”

In a separate incident, last Thursday at around 9am, a driver lost control of a white Ford along the A363 at Widbrook, near Bradford on Avon.

A street light was knocked down and the car lay with a crumpled bonnet in the verge.

The driver was spoken to by police and will be issued with a collision report.

The incident did not involve any other vehicles, however a second car was involved in a minor collision as a result of traffic, which built up after the accident.
