Calne twin town guests get big welcome

7:00am Saturday 3rd July 2010

Calne Twinning Association has thanked all supporters, host families and sponsors for their work during the town’s visit from its three ‘twins’.

Representatives from Caln in Pennsylvania, Eningen in Germany and Charlieu in France were entertained over the Summer Festival weekend.

Mayor Helen Plenty said: “My most outstanding moment must surely be the breaking down of barriers. We are all now as one, standing together, welcoming the future.”

Eningen mayor Alexander Schweizer said he was overwhelmed by the hospitality.

“I especially loved the vibrant atmosphere during the four days of our stay.” he said.

“It was packed with sports, entertainment, discussions as well as talking to old friends and new partners. Everybody’s hospitality made our stay a very special experience.”
