Members of a community group are looking for feedback from townspeople about how public transport in the Malmesbury area can be improved.
The Malmesbury and Villages Community Area Partnership is holding an open meeting in the town hall on Wednesday at 7pm for people to voice their opinions about the state of bus, train and taxi services.
Committee member Martin Rea said it was a crucial issue for people without cars. He said: “There is no doubt that a major issue for those living in Malmesbury and the villages without their own vehicles is the provision of good local transport in all its forms.
“Everyone has a need for transport for journeys to the doctor and the hospital as well as visiting relations, shops and nights out.”
Wednesday’s meeting will take the form of an exhibition including all the local transport providers both commercial and voluntary.
Mr Rea said: “There will also be a forum where people can hear and take part in a discussion on how to improve the local situation.
“So if people just want to see a better local bus service from their village to Malmesbury or want to have some evening services to towns like Swindon and Chippenham they should come along and make sure their comments count.”
The event is free. Anyone needing transport on the night can call (01666) 822303 for assistance.
