Police have issued a witness appeal following a serious assault in Trowbridge town centre in July.
Around 4.10am on Sunday July 11, a 26-yea-old Trowbridge man, left the Courthouse pub in Trowbridge town centre with his brother, and walked towards Wicker Hill.
As they left the pub, they saw three men already outside the pub, who then started walking off down Wicker Hill, with the victim and his brother some distance behind.
As the victim reached the town bridge, he was attacked by the group of three men, with one of them smashing a bottle over his head leaving him with a large cut which bled profusely.
The victim was knocked to the ground, semi-conscious, and one of the offenders then kicked him in the chest.
Following the attack, the three offenders ran away, and had it not been for the intervention of the victim’s brother, who administered first aid, the injuries would have been far more serious.
The injured man was taken to the Royal United Hospital, Bath, where he had 18 staples inserted into his wound, and he suffered extensive bruising to his head, face and chest.
The three assailants are all described as white, aged late teens/early 20s, all with short hair, and all described as well built with muscular frames.
The attacker with the bottle had fair hair, and was shorter than the other two, both of whom had dark coloured hair. From police inquiries, there is some suggestion that at least one of the attackers may be a boxer.
Detective Constable Nicky Levitt is appealing for help from members of the public in identifying these three men, for this assault which could have been far more serious.
Anyone with information about the assault or the suspects are asked to contact Dc Levitt on 0845 408 7000 ext. 728 509.
