A crash in Trowbridge on Saturday left one woman with suspected neck and back injuries and caused traffic chaos.

The woman, in her dark blue Ford, smashed into the back of a maroon coloured 4x4 at around 12pm at the junction of West Ashton Road and County Way.

The woman was extracted from her car after fire officers smashed the glass and cut away at the rooftop.

The incident was cleared by 2pm. The Ford car was taken away on a recovery vehicle and traffic returned to normal conditions.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called out at 12.04pm and one fire engine from Trowbridge was sent out. There were two vehicles, but no fire. Officers made the vehicle safe. A passenger was medically trapped and hydraulic cutting equipment was used. The person was then taken to hospital by road ambulance."

Fire officers left the scene at 12.55pm.
