Temporary boss for ambulances in Wiltshire

Great Western Ambulance Service (GWAS) is to be run by a temporary boss when chief executive David Whiting leaves in February.
Mr Whiting is to take up the post of chief executive of Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
Four candidates were interviewed for the post of chief executive but none were appointed. Instead Martin Flaherty will become interim chief executive.
Mr Flaherty is currently deputy chief executive of London Ambulance Service.
Mr Flaherty will be supported by Dr Ossie Rawstorne, medical director at GWAS, who will be acting chief operating officer.
Tony FitzSimons, chairman of GWAS, said: “The board is confident that Martin, supported by Ossie, will build on GWAS’ successes.”
Mr Flaherty said: “I am delighted to be given this opportunity to join GWAS and am confident that by working closely with the staff we can continue to maintain the developmental programme which is already underway.”
