TWO west Wiltshire nurseries are celebrating success at this year's Chelsea Flower Show.
Charlie Clarke, owner of Westdale Nurseries in Holt Road, Bradford on Avon, won a silver flora medal in the floral marquee category.
His display of Bougainvilleas, the nursery’s speciality, came second out of more than 100 competing displays.
Mr Clarke, who has been to the show 15 times, said: “It’s nice to get a silver at such a show as Chelsea. I’m yet to get a gold here but I’ll give it a go next year.
"There were some international firms here with 20 people working on their gardens so it’s nice for a small firm like me to get a medal.”
In the same category The Botanic Nursery in Atworth won a silver gilt award for their display of British and European foxgloves.
Terry Baker, joint owner of the nursery, who has been entering the show for more than 30 years, said: “This is the first time we’ve displayed on such a large stand and it’s all come together extremely well.
"It’s the equal best we’ve had. We absolutely enjoy it.
“The display is in a very natural setting and I think part of what makes our display popular is that people can do it in their own gardens.”
The Royal Horiticultural event is the world’s most famous gardening event and marks the start of the summer season.
