YOU couldn't help but admire this group of Croatian men as they sang their hearts out in the beautiful setting of St Bartholomew's Church.

Klapa Motovun are a group of nine men from the hilltop town of Motovun who bring about the rich harmonies of 'Klapa', traditional Croatian a cappella.

Klapa finds its roots in Gregorian chant and this delicious performance harped back to that heritage with its beautiful framing among the stained glass windows and grand arches of the church.

Not knowing the language of the pieces performed was no barrier for its charismatic nature. The men were charming and a bond between them was evident.

The songs were varied in colour and style and it was satisfying that some of them were pre-empted by descriptions of their content.

It is not every day that the warmth of the Dalmatian coastline is brought to a chilly church in Corsham but it was certainly there on Saturday.
