A WESTBURY mum is appealing for help to find her son’s BMX bike and scooter, which were stolen from their house in The Spur on Saturday.

Juliet Hunt, 47, said her 10-year-old son, Elliott, had received the new kit for his birthday in September, and was devastated by the loss.

The bike, a blue X-Rated Hustle, and the scooter, a customised black JD Bug with red grips and a skull sticker, are among several items stolen from sheds and garages around the town last week.

“He only got them less than three months ago so he is not having much luck at the moment, he even had a picture of the scooter on his birthday cake,” she said.

“Unfortunately he didn’t secure the garage door properly when he came in and someone must have come in and taken them. The next day we were setting off for his football match in Staverton and saw it was gone, he was absolutely devastated about it, he rode that scooter to school every day.

“I remember recently a stolen bike was spotted in Trowbridge and the thief was arrested so it is worth asking people to keep their eyes open.

“I’m working, but I’m a single mum and I can’t afford to replace them, and the insurance excess costs almost as much as the bike. Oddly the thief didn’t take anything else, which makes me think that they must have known he had those things there.”

Warminster and Westbury inspector Lindsey Winter said: “Please make sure sheds, garages and outbuildings are kept secure. There are shed alarms that can be purchased and they do offer a deterrent.

“The suspects are seemingly removing locks and forcing entry to sheds, determined to take what they can.”

Anyone who thinks they have seen the bike, who knows who might have stolen it or where it might be being sold, should call police on 101.

What's the point in reporting them to the police?
Just get the stuff back if they've still got it & give the @rse'oles a bl@@dy good hiding.

A friends son had his bike stolen about a month ago off the front garden whilst he went in to go to the loo, and it was just a short walk from where this one went missing too and it was broad daylight at the time! Scumbags the lot of them who go around doing this. Worth checking out ebay too and also posting it on facebook if you are on it as another friend did the same when her sons scooter was stolen near Co-op a month ago and all her friends re-posted it and surprise surprise it ended up back in her garden the next night!!!

@melkshamwizard.... selfish, inconsiderate, thieving bastards, yes, but hardly the scum of the earth. Shouldn't that epithet be reserved for paedophiles, rapists, BMA nazis, banks, H&S jobsworths and socialists?

When scum walk the earth we cant help but fail sometimes. its sad that every lock and every defence need to be in place every second of the day, sometimes we may forget, or maby the lock fails. should our local people not pitty this. my parents remember a time when ya could leave your doors wide open with no problems. not now, now there is a pratt behind every fence, just waiting for you to forget that lock, or the window catch... if you see him... if one day you pass a home you know, and someone new stands watching, waiting and planning.. go up and shake his hand, be civil and carefully remind him he is dirty scum.

ps - i agree with melksham wiz-dude... these pathetic inbread freeks are the scum of the earth... that should go without saying. and yes, i think the police should be involved... the trick is to get the @22 kicking done before the police turn up... just make sure they take a swing at you first ... "SELF DEFENCE" HA... no ... we are adults and civilised... and we have ways of leagaly - properly dealing with these little gits... and dont wory, if I / you dont kick there nasty little behinds, one day someone else will. and hopefully it will be someone bigger and stronger than either of us. ... ... that or the big bearded bloke in prison can enjoy makeing them pick up soap.

Elliott and family you did nothing wrong, and I am so sorry there are scum-bags like this roaming around.
